In this research project, one of the goals is to conceive an efficient mass manufacturing and installation of prefabricated modules, by a combination of an integration of robotic, automation and augmented reality technologies.
Kepa Iturralde from Technische Universität in Munich presented BERTIM project at the Advanced Building Skins 2016 congress which was held from 10 to 11 October in Bern, Switzerland.
The speech entitled "Timber based prefabricated façade elements for building refurbishment" was a part of the session dedicated to Prefabrication of Façade Elements which was hosted by Michael Garrison from University of Texas at Austin, USA.
BERTIM will develop a prefabricated solution which will provide the opportunity to renovate improving energy performance, air quality, aesthetics, comfort, and property value at the same time, while ensuring low intrusiveness during renovation works.
The manufacturing of the solution will be included in a holistic methodology for the renovation project process, from data collecting to installation.
