BUILDING ENERGY RENOVATION THROUGH TIMBER PREFABRICATED MODULES

BERTIM project was promoted during last year iteration of World Conference on Timber Engineering, August 20-23, 2018 Seul, Republic of Korea. WCTE is the world's premier forum for presenting and discussing the latest technical and architectural developments and innovations in wood or timber construction.

Magnus Fredriksson and Mattias Brannstrom, representatives of Lulea University of Technology (LTU - BERTIM consortium member) submitted a paper entitled "Technical solutions to increase competitiveness of cross-laminated timber from the nordic countries", which was presented during the conference. Those solutions were elaborated within the framework of BERTIM project. The conclusion of this speech was  that there are several interesting lanes open for new ways of producing cross-laminated timber and among the more promising are novel production techniques where the volume yield and therefore profitability can be increased.

WCTE is the most prestigious international event in timber engineering, engineered wood products and design of timber structures, which is held biennially in different parts of the world and attracts researchers, engineers and architects, code consultants and building officials, contractors and project managers, fabricators and suppliers from all continents. During WCTE 2018 the traditional focus on timber engineering and material science was complemented by architecture related topics such as evaluation methods for green buildings and by an own platform for computer-based methods for modelling, parametric design, production, etc.

BERTIM mettra au point un ensemble de systems constructifs bois pour la renovation afin d’ameliorer la performance énergétique, la qualité de l’air, l’esthétique, le confort et en même temps, d’augmenter la valeur de la propriété, tout en veillant à une faible intrusion lors des travaux de rénovation.

Une méthodologie globale pour la rénovation incluera la fabrication, en suivant un processus du projet et en collectant des données nécessaires à l’installation.

La méthode systémique sera basée sur des flux de données numériques utilisant le BIM et qui sera mis en œuvre dans un outil logiciel nommé RenoBIM, réduisant ainsi le temps de mis en oeuvre, avec une production de masse personnalisée pour un moindre risque financier pour les investisseurs.
