BERTIM partners involved in Work Package 2, 3 and 4 met in March in Bilbao to discuss technical aspects and challenges they have to face in the project. The main objective of the meeting was to advance in the technical development of BERTIM prefabricated modules’ specifications and in the methodology for the decision making and criteria that will allow generating the most suitable renovation project for the existing building.
During two day meeting partners were raising many issues. One of them was building typology suitable for BERTIM installation. Partners decided to stick to terraced or semidetached houses (1945- 1980) and apartment blocks (1945-1980). It has been pointed out that very irregular building façade geometries could not be suitable for BERTIM modules, because the irregularities in the façade could reduce the percentage of prefabrication of the renovation, and reduce the percentage of building renovated with BERTIM modules. That is why in some cases, BERTIM could not be cost-effective. Nevertheless modules for the most common irregularities will be designed (balconies and ledges mainly).
Partners were also discussing about different solutions for 2D and 3D pre-fabricated modules application, aesthetic aspects, dimensions of the modules and systems installation (HVAC). RenoBIM Decision Support Tool and product costs were as well on the agenda.
Next technical meeting is planned at the beginning of June. First modules will be installed in November in KUBIK (TECNALIA’s facilities).
