BERTIM project at ABS congress 2016Kepa Iturralde from Technische Universität in Munich presented BERTIM project at the Advanced Building Skins 2016 congress which was held from 10 to 11 October in Bern, Switzerland.

The speech entitled "Timber based prefabricated façade elements for building refurbishment" was a part of the session dedicated to Prefabrication of Façade Elements which was hosted by Michael Garrison from University of Texas at Austin, USA.

The presentation covered such aspects like:

  • Mass customization applied to building renovation;
  • Efficient modules for achieving almost zero energy consumption;
  • Rapid Installation process during On-site works.

The aim of the Conference on Advanced Building Skins is to contribute to a multidisciplinary, integrated planning approach by architects, engineers, scientists and manufacturers to reduce energy consumption of buildings. By fostering lively exchange between these groups, this conference shed light on the significance of the building skin, with a view to putting scientific know-how into practice.
