RenoBIM software will be the application for the first stages of any BERTIM project. It will be a cloud-based platform, to give help to design first and then decide in the best way, before any engagement of manufacturing process. As its name indicates, the inputs and outputs of RenoBIM will be based on IFC (Industry Foundation Classes).
RenoBIM will first allow importing a 3D model concerning the extern walls and roof top of the building. The acquisition of this 3D model will be based on classic technologies with theodolites or cloud of points with 3D scan. A guide will be produced to obtain the best results with different existing tools to create this 3D model and then import it into RenoBIM with IFC format.
For all of us born after the 1970s, the idea that we are living in a planet with limited resources is a fact that has included words like sustainability, recycling and renewables into our daily vocabulary. Energy efficiency fits into this set of ideas, and although we are very conscious of the urgency of reducing energy consumption in all new consumables (cars, appliances, lightbulbs…), it has not permeate that one of the biggest energy loses happens in our own homes. In Spain around 25% of the total electric energy demand1 is for residential housing, and through various policies, an energy saving of 27% has been planned for by the Horizon 2020.
There are many ways to address energy efficiency in a building, like considering the location and surroundings, external envelop colors, ventilation, window location etc. However, building materials and insulations have a very important part to play, and here is where timber 3D modular housing can provide a significant quality step, both in terms of material, but also prefabrication.
New possibilities to finance innovative projects in the construction sector and presentation of case studies in Europe - that was the objective of a speech held by Agnieszka Kowalska from ASM (BERTIM partner) during the Monitoring of the Construction Market Conference that took place in Warsaw on the 28th October 2015.
BERTIM project results as examples of innovative solutions delivered for the construction sector was one of the topics raised by Ms Kowalska. BERTIM project received great attention from the participants of the conference - Polish construction companies. All project brochures have been distributed to the interested audience seeking for more information about the project, its goals and activities.
